§ 12.04.010. Naming new streets.

  • New streets shall be assigned names in accordance with the following:

    A.

    Extension of Existing Street. Streets added to the city that are natural extensions of existing streets shall be assigned the name of the existing street.

    B.

    Ordinance. All street names, except streets named as a part of a subdivision of platting procedure, shall be named by ordinance.

    1.

    The new north-south street located approximately nine hundred feet west of the Relocated Iowa Highway 163 and extending from A Avenue to Third Avenue (formerly Suffolk Road) shall be named Progress Drive.

    2.

    The new north-south street located approximately one thousand four hundred feet east of the Relocated Iowa Highway 163 and extending from A Avenue to Third Avenue (formerly Suffolk Road) shall be named Gateway Drive.

    3.

    The north-south street located approximately two thousand five hundred feet south and west of New Preston Drive and extending from Carbonado Road to one thousand four hundred seventy-five feet north and west of Carbonado Road (formerly unnamed private drive) shall be named North 17 th Street.

    4.

    The north-south street across part of Lots 1, 2 and 6 of Vanderwilt Subdivision in the City of Oskaloosa, Iowa which begins at Orchard Avenue approximately 300 feet northeast from the intersection of Orchard Avenue and Pella Road and extends north approximately 1,660 feet shall be named Kentfield Drive. [Kentfield Drive will have a public right-of-way width that varies from sixty-five feet to seventy-five feet.]

    C.

    Planning Commission. Proposed street names shall be referred to the planning commission for review and recommendation.
