§ 12.08.100. Mailboxes.

  • The property owner may at his or her own expense install a mailbox in compliance with U.S. Postal Service requirements. The mailbox shall be between thirty-eight inches and forty-two inches in height and the front parallel to the curb or edge of pavement. Mailboxes shall be mounted on a support post no larger than four inches by four inches, or a two-inch diameter standard steel or aluminum pipe, and shall be buried no more than twenty-four inches below grade. In the event a mailbox is damaged by the city in the course of snow removal or street maintenance, and the mailbox is in compliance with these provisions, the city shall reimburse the property owner the actual replacement/repair cost not to exceed thirty-five dollars.
