§ 12.12.140. Cleaning snow, ice and accumulations.

It shall be the duty of the owner to keep sidewalks abutting the property clear of
the natural accumulations of snow or ice. If the owner fails to do so within twenty-four
hours after the snow stops, the public works director or designee may have the natural
accumulations of snow and ice removed without notice to the property owner. The public
works director or designee shall give the Council an itemized and verified statement
of costs and a legal description of the property. These costs, together with the administrative
expenses of the city in connection therewith as determined by the city manager, shall
be assessed to the property as taxes. The property owner shall be liable for damages
caused by the failure of the owner to use reasonable care in the removal of snow or
ice.
