§ 5.16.060. City and state electrical licenses.

  • The city engineer shall establish requirements and procedures for the qualification and licensing of electricians subject to the approval of the council. The city engineer shall issue an appropriate certificate of qualification without unnecessary delay to each person who meets the qualifications. Qualifications shall be founded on the requirement of the Oskaloosa, Iowa, electrical code so as to determine the ability of an applicant, when licensed, to install, repair and alter electrical wiring safely and properly. Certifications shall be acquired as follows:

    A.

    License and Fees. Any person who desires to be licensed as an electrician in the City of Oskaloosa shall do one of the following:

    (1)

    Hold a valid license issued by the State of Iowa; or

    (2)

    Continue to maintain an existing city license including the payment of an annual license fee of twenty-five dollars. The license fee shall be used for payment of costs of issuing the licenses and enforcement of this chapter.
